One of my favorite artists is Jean-Michel Basquiat, the New York Pop Artist who died aged 27 in 1988. His work is still fresh and new, his style the victim of countless copies. After the release of the feature length documentary "Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child" by Tamra Davis in 2010, Basquiat has enjoyed a return to pop-culture by being namedropped by rappers like Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West and Rick Ross. His personal style of dressing made him a fashion icon and his prints are selling more than ever.

Original Penguin Outerwear

Original Penguin is one of my absolute faves! They keep getting better and better and their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection has some amazing outerwear. The Speakeasy bar is the concept behind this collection and I love that "Bordwalk Empire" feeling it has. Personally I´m obsessed with this biker/aviator hybrid, but also dig the wool varsity jacket and the plaid coat.

VATLE is one of Norways most dynamic and promising fashion talents and her first venture into menswear is fantastic! The edgier showpieces are super for photoshoots (or a night of heavy clubbing) and the more ready-to-wear pieces are on trend for A/W 2011. I´m craving her Varsity Jacket in black with her logo on the chest. Way trendy and way cool!

That 70s Show

After a very long period of 80s and 90s influenced fashion, it´s refreshing to see a return to the underrated decade of the 1970s. Best known for disco and glam, it was also a time of rebellion and the decade when youth culture really came into it´s own. Hollywood saw a new generation of filmmakers and musicians rise from the underground to the mainstream. These young mavericks produced some of the finest films ever made in America. The 1970s was all over the Fall/Winter shows in Milan (more on that later...), so get ahead of the curve and be inspired by these images for your spring wardrobe!

Check Mate

 The Gingham is THE shirt of the season. It ads a cool and crisp twist to any outfit and works just as well with a three-piece suit as it does paired with a cardigan. And the good thing is, it is super hot for the upcoming spring season ! Go for the classic cotton one or  the more urban version in flannel.
